The Neighbourhood Watch - Faction Brief

Welcome to the Neighbourhhod Watch, friend. It's not like we have much to hide, but here's where you can find a bit more about the inner workings of the group.

Organisation

First and foremost, a note on leadership. Gordon Jameson is our founder and the one ultimately with the vision of what it is we want to be. That said, he's rarely the one you'll be getting your orders from. That'd be Abigail Bruck, our Cell Coordinator. If Jameson is the one with his eye on the big picture, Bruck is the one who handles the smaller details and the day-to-day goings on of the Watch.

Members of the Watch can act fairly independently in the interest of the safety of humanity, but if you need orders, or have anything to report to the group, Bruck is the one you're all accountable to. Andi Koury and Zachariah are somewhat exceptions. Their main job is to keep us stocked up on weapons, medical equipment, and whatever useful bits and pieces you can find. Anything new on that front gets reported to them.

Goals

Our main goals as an organisation can be summed up with the titles Safety, Legitimacy, Presence and Strength.

Safety

First and foremost, we're here to keep people safe. From rogues and raiders, to internal strife, to the very world we call home, almost everything can threaten this safety. Our purpose is to identify potential threats and, if necessary, neutralise them before they can cause harm to others. We can't afford to get complacent here.

Further to that, any efforts to secure what's left of Monument, at least where we're settled, against outside threats, should definitely be considered a worthy cause.

Legitimacy

Our job would be a whole lot easier if the people of Monument accepted us as a legitimate organisation. As things stand, we're struggling on that front, and opinions on us are generally mixed. The long term ideal would be to gain some kind of legal legitimacy, giving us authority in the eyes of the people. With the world the way it is at the moment, that's not going to be easy, but if it can be done, it must.

Presence

As things are, so much slips through our net. Simple fact is, we don't have the numbers to police everyone and everything. So we need to make our presence felt. The potential for action by the Watch could potentially save as many lives as the action itself. At the very least, people are going to think twice before causing needless danger if they know we're out there to stop them. So get out there.

Strength

Sad as it is to say, we stop being effective if we get technologically outstripped by the threats we police. We need to stay ahead of the curve. Whatever happened to the world, we're back to square one as far as tech is concerned. It can't stay that way if we're going to remain effective.
